Mike Harmon, Kentucky’s 47th Auditor of Public
Accounts, today announced the appointment of Ty Sharp as a Special Assistant to his office.
“When I became Auditor of Public Accounts, my goal was to hire the best people possible to
serve the public,” said Auditor Harmon. “Ty brings much experience from his prior work in local
government, and we are pleased to have him joining Team Follow the Data.”
“Auditor Harmon’s commitment to making government more efficient, effective and ethical is a
big reason why I’m excited to be joining his administration,” said Sharp. “I appreciate the
opportunity, and I look forward to working in the Auditor’s office.”
Prior to being hired, Sharp worked five years in local government in his native Garrard County.
Sharp worked for the Garrard County Attorney, and later worked for both the county attorney
and the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 13th Judicial District. During that time, Sharp
assisted prosecutors on cases ranging from traffic violations to felony crimes. Sharp also
previously interned with office of Senator Rand Paul and worked in the United States Senate as
a Senate Republican Page. Sharp will graduate from Eastern Kentucky University in May with a
Bachelor of Science degree.
Sharp started his role with Auditor Harmon’s office on January 18th.
