FRANKFORT, Ky. (December 20, 2023) – Today, Kentucky Auditor Mike Harmon's office released the Fiscal Year 2023 audit of the Lincoln Trail Area Development District (LTADD), which has no findings.
“House Bill 189, which passed unanimously during the 2017 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly, gives our office the ability to conduct audits of area development districts like Lincoln Trail," said Auditor Harmon. “The law created by HB 189 provides the right for our office to either audit area development districts by our own staff, or review ADD audits conducted by private accounting firms. It's a positive for area development districts and those they serve because it provides more transparency and accountability on how public dollars are being used by ADDs."
House Bill 189 came to fruition thanks to the efforts between Auditor Harmon, members of the General Assembly, the Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, and others.
The LTADD audit, which can be reviewed here, is the sixth overall area development district audit to be released by Auditor Harmon's office since HB 189 became law, and the second for Fiscal Year 2023. Last week, the Auditor's office released the Fiscal Year 2023 audit of the Purchase Area Development District.
